Hi,
I am currently using AVG free edition. Although I have cleared identified
viruses from my PC, I am bombarded with pop-ups warning me of trojans and
that I need to run AVG.

Is this a scaremongering ploy by AVG to get me to pay for the subscription
edition? How do I get rid of these invasive warning pop-ups?

Dave

Sounds like AVG found the suspect files in your restore points and so
can't deal with them properly as it is a protected area of the system.
Where were they found? C:\_restore (ME?) or C:\system volume
information\_restore...(XP?)...

Purge the restore points, you don't need infested ones anyways.
