My brother is running AVG free edition on his laptop. He keeps getting the
following message:

AVG Resident Shield (in the blue banner at the top)

Virus Trojan horse downloader. Small.6.E is found in file
C:/system Volume Information\_restore{68DCCD
3E-2073-4915-A5DC-A445A55876AD}RP292\AOO35780.dll

To remove this virus, please run AVG for windows.

He updates and runs AVG regularly but it keeps appearing. When he gets on
the internet, it shows up again and it takes three or four clicks on the ok
button to clear it away.

I've looked for information about "Small.6.E" on the internet, but can't
find anything. He can't just to into Windows Explorer and delete the .dll
file, because he can't access C:/system Volume Information. (At least, I
assume he can't, because I can't on my computer.)

Neither of us is very "high-tech." Is there a simple way to safely remove
whatever is causing this message?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

The "C:/system Volume Information\_restore" folder is a system folder used
when you want to "roll back" XP if you have problems after installing any
software. It is a system folder containing registry/files/system,
information at a given date/time in the past. It maybe that your friend
picked up a virus/trojan and before AVG removed it, the system created a
restore point. The virus/trojan would then be in the system restore point.

The only way to clean this, is to disable the system restore points on the
C: drive, reboot, then enable the restore point service. This should delete
the contents of "C:/system Volume Information\_restore"

Thank you very much. I'll pass this on to him.
