Try Avast Home first. It's excellent and runs on Win98.

I was using NAV 5 on W98 just fine - didn't have SE though. I could
still get updates for definitions files but not for program updates, so
I eventually went with AVG because program updates are more important
IMO than just virus definition files.

One poster (Virus Guy IIRC) did some research and insists that NAV2002
was still getting *both* definitions and program updates after repeated
reinstalls to extend its subscription life.

It gets worse.

Smile

As of May 10th, NAV 2002 (and also NAV 2003 I think) can no longer be
updated with new virus definition files; the problem is related to the ever
increasing size of the files, and effectively means the end of usefulness of
NAV 2002.
More info on the Symantec NAV forum.
