I have been using AVG6 for some time. When it was first
installed, seems like I found and took out several item.
Today, Avast v4.1 came to my attention. It looks like
like it has some very good features.
Sure would appreciate any comments comparing the two.
Tnx, R

FWIW, the only reason I uninstalled AVG (Free) and installed Avast instead
was that AVG stopped the 'snap-to-default' on my Intellimouse Optical. Apart
from that, it seemed OK.

I have been using avast for a number of months now and I have to say that I
am extremely impressed to say the least. The detection rate has been good,
updates normally come out at least 2-3 times a week, sometimes daily if
there has been an outbreak and doesn't take up that much in the way of
resources. I love all of the features that it has, being able to scan my
IM,IRC, and P2P channels is a real bonus.

The only problem that I did have with it though is that the manual scantime
is SLOW, extremely slow actually, NAV slow... But if you have no problems
with that, then it is a great AntiVirus program.

Personally I will be staying with it for quite some time, it suits my needs
and it is free (which is the best price).

Hope this helps

Troy

I recently switched to Avast, since NAV now limits me to only one of my two
home PC's. I've been pleased with it, and prefer it over AVG, but the
performance does lag somewhat on Win9x from my experience.
