I'm using Spybot S&D 1.3 and have a question about one of its
settings.

If you open Spybot, switch to Advanced Mode, click Settings on the
left, click the Settings icon, and scroll down a bit to the "Web update"
heading, this is listed...."Download updated include files if available
online."
I'm assuming that is a grammar mistake and that it should
read...."Download updated files if available online?" Or is there really
something called "include files?"

BTW, for those users who have that option checked, have you noticed
if Spybot automatically updates itself? That would be great if Spybot could
do that on its own.

Not a mistake. Indeed, you should have an Includes subdirectory for Spybot
S&D which contains, amongst other files, include files *.sbi

I am not aware of any automatic updating. As a matter of course, I click
search for updates before scanning with Spybot S&D
