Post subject: Q: temporarily disable mcafee virusscan enterprise 8 ?

Is there a way to temporarily disable McAfee's Autoscan feature?

I am trying to install a freeware app (which is adware) and McAffee is
blocking installation.

Also, it slows my system to a crawl whenever I try file searching a
folder.

Clicking on the {V} logo in the system tray only gives me statistics
or About, there is no option to turn it off or change settings.

I went into Administration > Services and temporarily stopped McAfee
Alert Manager and McAfee Framework Service but that doesn't seem to
work.

Any help appreciated!

then 'temporarily' has nothing to do with it... if mcafee is blocking
its installation it should also block its execution...

basically, mcafee is forcing you to choose between it and the freeware
app...
