Post subject: symantec query

hi all ,
i use a laptop that's like 4 years old and belonged to my brother . he
got it from a firm he used to work in . now the problem is that it
contains symantec anti-virus . i thought about trying my hand at other
products so i had to uninstall it . that's where things got out of
hand . i uninstalled the live update first ( which was quick as
flash ) . and then proceeded to uninstall the antivir . but guess what
- it's password protected . and worst of all - i dont know the
password and nor can i recover it from my brother . now i can't update
it , can't uninstall it , basically - i am stuck .
suggestions please .

Howdy,
I have had horrendous experiences with the failure of the
Norton Removal Tool to do a complete job.
Others may have more luck, but the hassles I had eventually
caused me to do a complete re-install of Windows.

I guess, you must've been extremely unlucky... I've never heard from

Hello again,
When I had the problem I mentioned (frequent error dialogs
telling me that Norton anti-worm tools were not functioning
properly) I used every removal tool they offered. Nothing
helped.
And, by the way, at the time of the difficulty, I
communicated with lots of folks with similar problems.
Unlucky, yes... Alone, no.

well thanx all of u . i finally uninstalled it in a clean way . i just
provided the password as "symantec" and job done . thats it . >> Stay informed about: symantec query |

Symantec and AVG - Would it hurt to runs both at the same time? I have a free Symantec licence through work, and I paid for AVG7, but it seems to keep being rubbish. Currently I use Symantec about twice a week and it always finds virus', however my twice daily AVG scan..
Had it with Symantec - I think I'm finally in the market for a new brand of anti-virus. I've been running Norton 2003, it has expired, and when I went to their site, it said that I could buy a renewal. I went through everything including entering all my credit card..
is there a Symantec NG ? - Hi, pardon my ignorance, but is there a Sysmantec ng? |
