Post subject: No way to stop Mcafee virusscan from reporting OK PUPs?
Archived from groups: alt>comp>virus (more info?)

Hi,

I have virusscan 10.0.27, engine version 4450, DAT Version 4827. (It is
the Comcast provided version of Mcafee Security Suite, so may have
fewer features than the boxed version?)

Anyway, I have the SysInternals tools, including PsExec and PsKill
installed. Virusscan reports these as PUPs (potentially unwanted
programs) every time it runs a scan. There are links to delete or
quarantine these programs. I want to keep and use these program, but
there is no obvious way to acknowledge the app and say it is OK, don't
keep informing me!

Am I missing something? Surely there should be a way to do this, as
even the mcafee website explains that these are not viruses, and not
damaging programs - they just have the potential to be abused, say in a
multi-user or LAN environment.

Regards,
Peter
