Post subject: I want to get started in programming a virus/trojan scanner
Archived from groups: alt>comp>virus (more info?)

I am a absolute newbee at virus scanner programming but I want to get
started anyhow. I have got several questions:
1. How does a virus scanner work (just comparing signatures or what) ?
2. Where can I get these signatures ?
3. Do trojan horses have signatures, too ?
4. Are there algorithms for detecting viruses/trojan horses ?

I would be pleased if someone could give me some code snippets, too.
Thanks in advance,
Vali
