Hi,
Yes I agree that Norton V 5 is outdated in respect that if you have
file exentions ticked it does not scan all the latest file extensions
(EG PHP, Pif, and VBS etc unless youhave added these in) You can set
it to scan all files.
It still uses the latest scan engine and updates as Norton 2004 so
just as good at catching viruses if set to scan all files but misses
the script checker etc in later additions and autoupdate facilitys.
You would be better of with a new scanner though. Their are many
better ones which have been described above. Free ones AVG V6 or pay
for Nod 32 or AVP
