Rassenfrassen "managed configuration" machine from work had no problem letting
it in, but because of their need to exert control over everything I think, do
and say, I can't bring this thing up without full XP...so AdAware and I can't
delete the DLL that keeps renaming itself with every restart....r

"Their" need to exert control? Well, I suppose that is because it is
company property and not yours. So let them exert their control and let
THEM fix it! I suppose you could create another partition, use
multibooting, and do a parallel install of another instance of Windows
to run Ad-Aware and Spybot over there but you'll have to know what your
doing or get ready to apologize to THEM for wresting control away from
them.

that's simple - if they exert that level of control on your work pc,
tell them it's *their* responsibility and obligation to clean it up...
and they better make it snappy because you have work to do...
