Hi there,
I'm not a particular fan of Norton, and McAfee support seem to be almost
impossible to talk to, so we are currently looking at alternative
firewall/anti-virus security suites. I was wondering if anyone knows of
any reliable reviews of the alternatives? It's for a small business, so
I'm not limited to free software. One review on the web had PC-Cillin as
their number one and Panda as their second best (Norton and McAfee were
way down the list), are people generally impressed with both of these?
After glancing through previous messages on this newsgroup, not much has
been mentioned about them?
Thanks for any advice, Jim. >> Stay informed about: Any panda reviews out there? |

For a network I use Symantec antivirus CE (is not the same as Norton AV),
and it does great, no problems at all. The part I like is that from your
workstation you can deploy it, monitor it and push updates/scans. >> Stay informed about: Any panda reviews out there? |

Panda apparently installs a couple of files (imscan.dll and pav.zip) that
draw false hits from Avast. I don't know which program has the problem but
you should be aware of it. >> Stay informed about: Any panda reviews out there? |

I can't point you to any review. What I can tell you about Panda though
is that it removes detected viruses automatically, and there is no way
to keep it from doing that (at least I found no way). This is not as
great as it may seem at first glance if you consider the possibility of
false alarms and if you like to control yourself what goes in and out of
your computer.
By the way, McAfee 8 seems to do that too. I hope that's not becoming a
new trend after HTML interfaces. >> Stay informed about: Any panda reviews out there? |

If I remember correctly AntiVir also alerts on those files. Panda is
probably to blame because it doesn't encrypt its files properly. >> Stay informed about: Any panda reviews out there? |

As far as I am concerned, Windows AV programs are shitware. It's a pity
that good engines like McAfee's have to linger under a pile of
ill-conceived and badly programmed bloat. >> Stay informed about: Any panda reviews out there? |

I am now a big fan of Kaspersky.it seems to catch everything and doesn't hog
down your system like Norton or McCrappe or Panda.. >> Stay informed about: Any panda reviews out there? |
