Post subject: Symantec lowers AlertCon to "1"
Archived from groups: alt>comp>virus (more info?)

For the first time since August 31, Symantec has lowered their AlertCon
threat status to "1" (normal) -- and mind you, Symantec openly
*acknowledges* Oracle issued patches for a hundred security flaws across
their entire product line!

Symantec throws fits for weeks on end, every time Microsoft issues a patch.
"Holy Jeez, if you live on Planet Earth, you better get the greivous
update!" Oracle issues a hundred patches in one fell swoop for the entire
corporate / government / military world, and Symantec thinks it's a yawner?
Hmph.

It's probably just a coincidence, but Symantec doesn't include their *own*
vulnerabilities in their website AlertCon notices. That's because antivirus
vulnerabilities constitute no threat. "Yes," said Jon Stewart, "that MUST
be the reason..."

PS: my household goods arrived today. Finally! I tell you,
www.kumite.com/rsnbrgr/blackbox.jpg has waited patiently for my rackmount
servers & the rackmount KVM switch...)
