The same answers you were given to your multiple posts in
24hoursupport.helpdesk will still apply.

Afraid not, because none of them worked. If you would like to answer the
post and if you think you have the answer I will be more than glad to follow
your instructions word for word.'

You might need to try and /reinstall/ the un-named McAfee product and
then try to use MCPR again.
Why is your XP Home just at SP2?

You doing a Restore "May" work, but I don't think it will. I had a similar
case with Avast. It would not completely uninstall, and would not let me
load over itself. In other words, my PC locked up on Avast.......couldn't
go forward or backward. Solution? Reformat.

Hello Richard:
In that particular case, I might have tried working closely with Avast
support to resolve the issue.
It probably would be a registry entry that would keep you from going
back or going forward.

Pete

The error message means that the registry still contains references to
McAfee, so Windows is trying to start it. If you feel comfortable with
doing so, run regedit and remove all references to McAfee. Reboot into
safe mode, in case you missed some references, and delete all McAfee
folders. Also run a registry cleaner to remove invalid registry
references you may have missed.
Or get Your Uninstaller, which does a pretty good job of cleaning out
traces of uninstalled programs. You will probably have to reboot and use
YU twice, since it can't always unlock and delete files that Windows
thinks are still needed.

Hello Larry:
Agreed! I'd try almost any other viable utility before I tried the best
registry cleaners. One would be fearful that the hive would be
incomplete or damaged after an indiscriminant operation.
