Norton incompatible with Spybot ?

Yes, so did I once upon a time. But with the passage of time and
further development Norton has gotten worse. It is now even more
intrusive. Its system hooks are everywhere.

I only wish I could offer the OP a solution. Maybe somebody else has a
workable idea.

Having read the various links, this seems to be getting a bit silly.
Detecting Norton as "technology that is implemented in ways that
impairs user control over material changes that affecs their system
security" seems rather foolish, given that Symantec's claimed reason
fro detecting Spybot could be considered the same, due to the badly
designed TeaTimer dialog preventing users from making the right
decisions while installing Norton. Blaming Borland Delphi for the
problem is not a professional response. I have used Delphi for years
and while it certainly has more than its fair share of bugs, it has
always been possible to work around them, even if it means completely
redesigning the dialog.

I think the Spybot folks are losing a lot of credibility over this. But
then Spybot has really fallen behind the commercial products in the
detection stakes over the last couple of years. If it wasn't free, I
doubt if anyone would even bother with it.

Yes, ignore Symantec (Norton).

Maybe you can read what the makers of Spybot
say in their article of 29. September 2006:

The only negative comments on 'SpyBot Search&Destroy' I've seen have the
whiff of an axe to grind. I will say, however, I've never liked nor used
'TeaTimer', but neither do feel any need for its functions.
