My MIL has had her computer running for several years without antivirus
software. I finally bought her Norton AV 2004 for Christmas because she
wouldn't buy something herself. She tried to install and had problems.
Last night I installed it. Went fine until the end of the install when I
clicked 'Finish' -then I got the blue screen of death. The prescan didn't
show anything, but then again, if she has something thats newer than when
the cd was burned, it wouldn't. I tried to run the online check from
security.symantec.com but it wouldn't even run.
I tried to run liveupdate to get the latest definitions, and started getting
memory errors. I know she has enough memory, so I think she has a virus that
is preventing the clean install of Norton... any ideas or suggestions? I
couldn't get anything to work.
