I just bought and am using BitDefender 10. I also tried to use Ad-Aware
SE, and it got stuck after scanning a lot of files.

Does anyone else have this experience? If so, is there anything I can
do to fix BitDefender so I can use Ad-Aware?

Thanks,

It should work with it w/o problems. Is this Ad-aware SE Personal or Professional edition ?

David,

I reinstalled Ad-Aware, turned off BitDefender, and Ad-Aware still gets
stuck. At this point it has scanned 188,073 objects. It stops on
C:\System Volume
Information\_restore{E080F0D2-27C7-4209-B885-41B77BAB35EC}\RP716.

At this point it says it has found 24 new critical objects.
Unfortunately, I cannot clear them. When I click "cancel," the
information on the 24 obects is lost.

No. It should be completely compatible. The question is where does it hang-up.
You want to temporarily disabler BitDefender prior to performing the Ad-aware scan.

It may be case of a problem on the hard disk. Have you executed a Check Disk (CHKDSK /F)
and defragmented the hard disk ?

Bill:

But have you run a Check Disk (CHKDSK /F) andthen defragmented the disk ?

Where Ad-aware SE is hanging up is in the System Restore cache of WinXP. These are
compressed files and may be corrupt.

What you can do is dump the Systerm Restore cache, reboot the PC and then re-enable the
System Restore cache and then subsequently you can create a new restore point.

Then re-scan the system using Ad-aware SE.

I don't know if this will help but I had problems with my computer
(adware, spyware, viruses, worms, everything) and then I downloaded AVG
7.5 and it seems to work great and it gets updates every half day or
day and it is just great. I'm not sure if the version you get off of
AVG is free but if you download it from kazaa or torrent it works
great.
