Just received my renewal notice from Computer Associates $19.95. I queried
this with CA, as I have previously been paying $9.95, and was told "...that
the *small* price increase was to enhance our product features..."

Since when has DOUBLING the cost been a *small* price increase - they've
lost my custom!

Mine, too, especially as I was repeatedly unable to download
the latest version of the program.

I was using AVG on my other machine, so now I have *two* new
antivirus programs to find. Sad

I closed the window on the renewal and got a popup saying that I could get a
20% discount if I reordered right then and there so I took advantage of it
and got it for $16.00. Very worth it in my view.

In the UK and Europe they are adding VAT at 17.5% making a total of
$23.44 much too much to pay now.

Interesting, but still an 80% increase, and if Grytpype-Thynne is right a
further 17.5% VAT also has to be added to that.
Personally, I also don't like this type of marketing strategy where they
offer you a discount just as you are about to walk away.
The silly thing is I quite like the software and would have been quite happy
to pay modest increases - but this is ridiculous.
Time to try Avast

If the program was not as good as it is, I would have walked away. However,
with the discount, it's certainly worth it in my view. It works very well
with ZoneAlarm Pro too.

Whos making a *big* fuss - this is a brief exchange, by a few people, on a
relevant newsgroup.

I completely agree when you say "..we each will only pay what we, as
individuals, feel something is *worth to us*..." At the renewal cost being
offered it is no longer worth it to me.

It's $7.30 less than the renewal cost of NOD32. How does it
compare with the renewal costs of McAfee and Norton?

I find that with this new version, I have to switch to manually checking for
updates otherwise the Defrag won't ever finish!

I've not had any similar conflicts. I have the updater scheduled to
check for updates every four hours.
