Post subject: Adaware error whist scanning problem
Archived from groups: alt>comp>anti-virus, others (more info?)

I apologise for cross posting, but I was told before that it is allowed if
it is relevant to both groups I am posting in, which I think this is, as I
made the mistake last time of multi posting which I apologise for.

I was running a scan on AdAware and it did not find anything but it did come
up with a couple of error whilst scanning problems which were the following.

GAIN Gator

Zlob VideoKeyCodec

I have looked up about GAIN Gator on google and it said to remove this via
Control Panel > Add?Remove programs. The thing is GAIN Gator is not listed
in my programs that I can remove. Adaware did not find this as a problem it
can deal with and just an error whilst scanning, I do not know what to do.

The other problem is Zlob VideoKeyCodec, but when I look at trying to get
rid of this on google things seem to get a little complex, as it seems Zlob
has more than version or name (that might be the incorrect terminology) so I
do not want to do something to my pc which could make things even worse.

I would just like to know if anyone could please recommend what I can do to
get rid of these, as my pc is crashing at random intervals and it is
annoying.

Many thanks to anyone that can help.

Your Cross-Posting is apropos.

Please use SuperAntiSpyware. It should remove both.

David:

The s-ware you cited looks interesting.

Is it as good as AdAware? Search and Destroy?
I use both. If I d/l the one you suggested, should I keep and use all 3??

I run SuperAntiSpyware and it only found 2 Adware tracking cookies, so is
there anything else I can do. The random crashing of my pc is really
annoying now.

Thanks

Random crashing is NOT neccessarily a symptom of malware but of hardware.

Bad RAM, CPU, CPU cooling fan, etc.
