Anyone thinking of buying Mcafee should be made aware that they have
effectively no email support. It was evident that the reply I received, in
regards to a common problem about auto-dialling was a stock answer that just
recommended calling a USA helpline or viewing an inadequate FAQ.

A large company like this should find the resources to properly answer
emailed technical questions.

So I think it is Norton next time, or one of the others.

Geoff.

I am not affiliated or any any business interest with Network
Associates who sell McAfee products. That said I have used AntiVirus
for several years and found their support team in Belfast and in the
US most helpful. Calls to the US are only charged at local rate.

Support calls get redirected to the US out of UL hours thus extending
the support hours considerably.

I have had free upgrade CDs sent whenever they were unable to quickly
resolve an issue.

Have a closer look in this group and compare the number of problems
people post concerning McAfee (product or support) versus Norton and
Symantec.

Whats so advantagious about using email support?

I have ditched MacAfee because of various problems but always found support
through their discussion forum, which is frequented by technical support
staff, to be pretty good. Never asked for support via any other route.

I too had problems with email support. I did however get an email answer
from them relatively quickly. Of course it basically said we dont know how
our software works, but you can call our paid support lines so we can bill
you while we try to figure it out.
