I keep reading that Adaware has a version 6.1 out. So I go to the Lavasoft
website and download the latest version that even THEY adverstise as version
6.1. Yet, once installed, it looks identical to the previous version in
every respect ... it even calls itself Adaware 6.0.
What gives?

The splash screen says 6.0 but if you look in the lower right corner of the
main screen it should say Build 6.181. >> Stay informed about: Adaware 6.1? |

running at one moment.

I have encountered some spyware that seems to disable Ad-Aware. My
solution was to first run Spybot Search & Destroy and then Ad-Aware. This
did the trick for me. >> Stay informed about: Adaware 6.1? |

You seem to be implying that Spybot Search & Destroy found something
that disabled Ad-Aware.
Care to share what was found by Spybot Search & Destroy that you've
surmised disabled Ad-Aware? Personally, I like details for nitpicking
purposes.

Unfortunately I don't recall what the software was. I do user support and
often end up cleaning user machines. On at least two occaisions I have
encountered times when AdAware simply exits during a scan. I then installed
Spybot and ran a scan/clean and then AdAware worked as expected. >> Stay informed about: Adaware 6.1? |

Unfortunetly, though, Spybot tends to miss a few things that Adaware gets.
I've had Alexa! slip through spybot, as well as several reg. keys.

If you encounter that situation again please post details about the
Spybot scan results. Thanks.
