I had a problem with the Blaster worm on my XP partition and got it
removed
by the procedure dexcribed by Computer Associates and immunized the
system with the MS patch. Then I just made check if the ME partition
had also any infection with Norton, after downloading the latest
definitions. It listed three: 1) file
A0012668.EXE with w32 Blaster worm, 2) kdll.dll with trojan and
3)x-once[1].html with J S Seeker.
All the three files are now incubated. But the questions are
1) According to discussions on MS Newsgroups, ME does not get affected
with
the Blaster worm. So what is Norton pointing out? Is the infected file
merely to be deleted? There are no guidelines.
2) When I downloaded the Anti-Trojan from their web-site and checked
with it
on the ME partition, Anti-trojan says , there is no Trojan found on my
ME.
So what does one do? Delete the dll file infected according to Norton?
Would
it affect the relevant application?
3) Is it safe to delete the third html file, since it is just a
web-page?
Could any experienced user or Norton or Anti-trojan advise on the
correct course of action?
