Several months ago I downloaded Newsbin Pro from
a p2p network and scanned the file before burning it
onto a backup cd and then installing it. No problems
were reported.

Now I inserted the cd and I get a warning from NAV
that the file is infected with a Backdoor Trojan. I did
a full scan of my pc and NAV found nothing.

I update my virus definitions once a week. Is this a false
alert?

Ken

Which means that nothing was found, not that nothing exists.

Now you see it, now you don't ~ or more accurately..
...then you didn't see it, now you do.

You will need to do (or have done) some sort of second opinion scan.

Meaning it's cracked? Why not download from the official site.

Yep but It's especially funny to send in to vendors cracked versions
of their own software that may have virus.

For NAI/McAfee: Network Associates (McAfee) virus_research RemoveThis @nai.com
ZIP the file with the password - infected

or submit to McAfee AVERT: https://www.webimmune.net/default.asp
