I use it I like it. However I use mailwasher. At one time I was getting
literally hundreds of attempted attacks, hence mailwasher. Then they stopped
on a certain date but I continued getting dozens of spam and unwanterd mail,
probably not virus laden.
For reasons not relevant here, I migrated through a couple of isp providers
and munged my email address for ng's. Since then I get virtually no unwanted
email and have never seen a virus since, so perhaps I'm not a very good
judge.
Avast is very good at updating itself, doesn't seem to slow the system down
much, but launching an application might be delayed slightly.
