Norton antivirus very slow at startup

Hi,

My NAV2003 was very slow for about two month so i've removed the
autoprotect... and the system started 3x faster !
I think this has come with liveupdate...

have you ever experimented this ?

You are given two selections as to how the software can work.

1. A comprehensive scan on startup.
(which they recommend)
This takes a very long time and makes other programs wait until it

is finished.

2.Scanning with file extensions only without the comprehensive scan.
This should allow a much faster startup.
