While you are there the Kaspersky & NOD 32 numbers are worth
looking at. Remember, the comparisons are for
the Pro (paid for) versions of the products

Right. And the scanning engines are the same. Pro versions usually have
additional features. Check the AVAST site for a comparison, to see what
I mean. Ergo, the detection rates for freeware and paid versions ought
to be virtually identical.

There are scanners to downoad free also from
eTrend
BitDefender

....the virus defenitions arn't really up to date all the time for them and
they should, likely not be regarded as free...
