Did you search for "mcafee" and "network associates" in the Registry and removing their
keys after removing v4.5.1 and then installing VirusScan v7.1 ?
If not, I suggest removing v7.1, then reboot. Then search for "network associates" and
"mcafee" in the Registry and removing artifacts. Then install VirusScan v71.

| I just upgraded from 4.5.1 to enterprise 7.1 and the system is consistently
| comeing up with on-access scan disabled. ie: there is a red X over the
| shield. Yes, there is a check [x] that is supposed to enable it when the
| system boots. This system has XP home and I upgraded to SP2 at the same
| time as 7.1 went in.
|
| Other systems, win2k and xp pro do not have this problem. I tried
| uninstalling and reinstalling and same problem. No indication of any virus.
