Has anyone here used the AV feature of paid ZA?
Opinions and experiences appreciated.
Thanks
Carl

No
When I originally installed CA eTrust, the bundled ZA would somehow not
allow me to download pdf files.
It appeared to me that the bundled version of ZA was an older version.
So, after two or three fruitless days with CA support, I disabled the CA
version of ZA and used the Windows Firewall with no probs.
But, I later found and removed two keylogger malware programs in my
computer.

So, I decided that I probably need a two-way firewall to block outgoing
comm.
I tried the current free version of ZA which provoked a warning screen from
eTrust AV.

If I disable the eTrust mail scanning feature, but leave the ZA mail
scanning feature operational, I do not get the warning screen.

Then, I wondered if the current full paid ZA would interfere with itself.
Inasmuch as I pay CA for e-trust AV and my subscription is about to expire,
I am considering dropping e-trust entirely and buying the paid version of ZA
which claims to have AV.

Hence, my question.
Anybody used ZA AV?

I have the understanding that all AV programs get their basic info from the
same place (In Cern, Switzerland, if I remember correctly) which I think
allows some to offer free AV and maybe the various AV progs are all about
the same.

Hence, my question.
Sorry for the long history declamation.

Oops
Rereading David Lipman's comment.
Do you mean that if I buy e-trust, I get ZA and if I buy ZA I get e-trust?

You stated... "I have the understanding that all AV programs get their basic info from the
same place". I truly doubt that and will say it isn't true.

The AV companies are NOT the same. Some might be similar if they are based upon OEM engine
and signature files. But companies like Kaspersky and Mcafee ir Eset and CA are worlds
apart.

I did a little research. Zone Labs, ZoneAlarm Antivirus, uses an OEM of Computer
Associates' Vet Antivirus engine and signatures.

That's the way it used to be.
As I just replied, it seems they are NOW using an OEM of CA Vet's engine and signature files
in what they are calling ZoneAlarm Antivirus.
