Was in MS Windows (XP Home Edition) when got the not uncommon MS window
message saying 'need to close'. The following MS window said this problem
was caused by McAfee VirusScan, and McAfee know all about it but don't have
a solution as yet.
Anybody know about this? Is it genuine?

There are virus signature updates and there are program updates. If it
was a program update, the update may not occur until a reboot is
required (to allow renaming, deleting, or overwriting inuse files). Not
every AV vendor differentiates between signature and program updates but
they should (so you know BEFORE accepting the update if it will want to
reboot your computer to complete the program update).
