Archived from groups: alt>comp>anti-virus, others (more info?)

My NAV Subscription expired on Nov 2nd (along with our republic I fear).

Last night I disabled NAV and did a Custom install of F-Prot Windows 3.15b
on this system. I ran Updater and everything was fine.

I've been using F-Prot for a number of years and have several licenses for
it. I have it running on about 10 PCs, including 3 multiboot boxes so I
have a lot experience installing it.

I always avoid installing the F-Prot Scheduler.

Somehow F-Prot Scheduler had gotten installed without my knowledge.

This morning I booted up and went off to do some other things. When I came
back F-Prot was merrily scanning away. The Scheduler program was running
on it's own with an aggressive setting!

It "Cleaned" several harmless Excel Macro files and an expensive Excel
Macro based Worksheet comparing program, Synkronizer 6.1!

F-Prot also deleted several joke programs that I wanted to keep and my
Eicar Test files.

What gives?

I did a reinstall this morning and got rid of Scheduler.
