I installed McAfee VirusScan, build 8.0.41, last week. Today it
downloaded a new DAT file. McAfee wanted to reboot after downloading
the new DAT file. Is this normal to reboot after a new DAT? I can
see the need to reboot after a program update, but a DAT update???

I've been using Vscan 6.0 for a couple of years. Most dat downloads don't
required a re-boot - but the occasional one does. I don't know why!

Sometimes it is because the admin is not logged in and a reboot is required
to finish the update. Thought if you are only user and have admin rights dat
updates is not normal in Xp at least. We had a poster here with win2k who
had reboot every dat update .

Peace
