Post subject: VBS/Psyme and Downloader-GF
Archived from groups: alt>comp>virus (more info?)

I am using Win98 and got the subject trojans/worms yesterday. McAfee
supposedly caught and removed them but, ever since then, my computer has
been behaving strangely. For one thing, Windows looks for shortcuts to
folders whose names are all a bizarre mix of numbers and letters upon
Startup. I removed all these oddly-named folders from my C:\Windows\All
Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup subdirectory yesterday, but Startup keeps
looking for new folders with strange names every time I restart my computer.
Also, my computer is incorrectly reporting the amount of available space on
my hard drive. It reports over five gigabytes available, but I am
reasonably sure I have between one and two gigabytes available. Is this
normal behavior for these worms/trojans? And is it possible to stop the
effects they've had on my computer? Thanks for any advice!
