Family has a pc that Norton says it has a virus called "Trojan Horse". It
is detected with Nortons Security Scan, and give the virus that name, but
when you look on their site it tells you that there is no information. The
thing makes porno site popup ads jump up especially when you enter the
internet using Windows Internet Explorer. It reminds me of what I have read
where someone scans ips address's and if there is no firewall it dumps it's
load on that pc.

Nortons message reads in part; "VerifierBug[1].class is infected with Trojan
Horse". This file is in a temporary internet file folder.

Any suggestions, besides installing a firewall!?

Thanks for the reply. Norton detected it using their "System Security
Check" ( I think that's what they call it) but did not remove the file. It
just says it had been found and called it "Trojan Horse" and offered no
other information. I think you are right that it may me more adware than a
trojan and Norton did not distinguish that.

I'll try some of the adware packages and see what we find.

Again, thanks,
Jack

Yeah, a static IP make you a better repetitive target, but once
trojanized you are as screwed as anybody dialup or no dialup.
These software pseudo firewalls are marginally good at letting
you now if something is calling out, and some offer an additional
way to control port traffic.
