Post subject: Panda Titanium AV 3.0
Archived from groups: alt>comp>virus (more info?)

My install of Panda screwed up on me (wouldn't update), so I
uninstalled it. Now, after I uninstalled the program, and restarted
the comptuter, I could NOT access the internet.

I am able to ping and access my LAN, but nothing online. news, mail,
irc, no servers give any ping response.

I reinstalled Panda, and of course, everything is working fine now.
But now I am concerned, when my license runs out, and I have to
uninstall this AV....am I screwed? Does this mean I just have to
reinstall windows? Great AV but if this is the case, I will NOT be
getting another year. 70 dollars is very high anyway. Seems like
software companies are getting cheekier and cheekier.

If anyone has any info on uninstalling Panda to where I can actually
use my computer once it is gone, please let me know.

Thanks

Hi again Smile

I found using Panda Platnium instead of Titanium was my less
buggy.....except for the email Issue I had before....

It is still the only AV that got rid of some viruses that othres only
detected and did not remove.

After your problems I am having second thoughts too.

I'm just frustrated blowing off steam. If only it didn't screw with
my email with the mandatory popups when a virus is detected it would
be fine. I get about 100 swens a day in my inbox. There really
should be an option to turn off all the notifications.

Also, totally screwing up your internet connetion when uninstalling is
lame too.

No, but I had another problem on four PCs (WinME, XP, Win98SE) at a
site that had Panda on all four PCs. Specifically, the problem was
IE's web cache consuming well over 1G of space on C:, even though it
was set to limit useage to 20M.

What I'd do is first disable Panda's Internet functionality (i.e. any
web or script trapping, email patch-ins, etc.) before uninstalling it.

Panda (like other avs) can be clobbered by active malware that is
av-aware, and this can confound attempts to re-install or update it.

Yeah, looks like that is the only solution here. Or keep using an
expired trial version of Panda. Still waiting on a reply from tech
support, but I doubt I'll get a response.
