Daily I get a series of bitmap files appearing in my C:\Windows\temp
directory. They have names like jeep.bmp, pirates.bmp, and beyonce.bmp.
I routinely clean out the directory, but the files reappear. Can anyone
tell me what might be going on on my PC, and how I can stop it ?

Hello Brad,

I discovered on my machine that this happens whenever I logon to
yahoo! messenger. If you are also using Yahoo then this will answer
your question. But why Y! does that, i have no idea. But I seriously
doubt if there is any malicious (virus like) purpose behind this Smile
(there better not be!)

I hope this helps.

regards,
Rahul.

I've never used yahoo messenger. I expect it has a cache, that defaults
to %windir%\temp. Does it have options to change the location, and/or
empty it on exit?
