Hi all. Just wanted to post that spywareblaster 3 is now out, and
includes protection for Mozilla as well as IE (I'm not sure if the other
one did, but I was under the impression it was just IE). Anyway, it's
got a cool new user interface, but let's hope this is the final release,
otherwise we'll probably end up with a bloatwareblaster.

I must be behind then. I wouldn't have known it except that they quit
supplying updates for the old Spyware Blaster, and told me I had to d/l
the new version.

Hi Will......

I usually get notified on the MS ng's......and would have posted it here,
but it seems some people get ticked if anyone posts about
updates......particularly to AVG it seems.

If you or the others want notification of new updates to AdAware, Spybot,
SpywareBlaster, CWS or Hijack This as they come out, I would be happy to do
it. But it is up to you all.......

On second thought......most of the above are something you would be checking
on automatically.....but SpywareBlaster's updates are months apart. CWS
updates quite often.......Hijack This is still at 1.97.7.

Cheers.....Heather

I don't think that a cool interface necessarily means you have
bloatware. FWIW, SpywareBlaster is without equal as far offering
protection to users of IE. There isn't another utility that comes close.

No, but if they add any more features, then it will be bloaty (if that's
not a word, it is now).

What's neet about the new version of SpywareBlaster is it now also
offers protection to Mozilla users as well, although there's less to
protect against.

D/L SpywareBlaster. It's not a replacement for spybot, but more like
another weapon in your anti-malware arsenal. You could actually find a
link to d/l spywareblaster within the immunize section of spybot s&d.

SpyBot is rather a reactive approach to spyware and some trojans.
SpywareBlaster takes a proactive approach.

I definitely don't mind someone telling about updates... this is how I
found about the Spywareblaster update...

Right,.. it's important not to think that one tool gives overall
protection. I prefer a (limited) arsenal of complementary tools.
A matter of fairly good protection without losing all to much
stability & resources.

How's this for a limited arsenal of tools. I have Spybot S&D, have used
their immunization tool, have Spyware Blaster, Lavasoft AdAware, Sophos
(with their real time client they call intercheck running), supplemented
by AVG on demand, SpywareGuard, and Pest patrol running in the
background. That's my limited arsenal of tools, probably overkill but
it doesn't matter to me as long as it (the malware) is DOA. That's just
the tools who's specific purpose is keeping all that stuff out and
cleaning that stuff out, and dosn't even go into browser preference or
FW settings. Nope, No spies getting on this PC (knock on wood).

Okay.
Thanks for the clarification.
I installed and ran SpywareBlaster and was very impressed!
Thanks.
