No, but I do know that I had to update to 1.05 in order to continue getting
new definitions files.

I am back using 1.03 and getting ALL the new definition files. 1.04 caused
freezing problems......and apparently with quite a few users, 1.05 (which
allegedly fixed these) is also doing the same. So on the advice of Silj
(who has problems with 1.05 on XP), I went back to the one that *doesn't*
cause freezing.....version 1.03. Just updated it yesterday.

The older version (6.xxx) still gets some updates too, btw.

I had a look via Google and didn't run across any of the 1.03 versions. But
if I may make a suggestion for the future.......download any and all
programs UNopened into say the My Downloads folder and then if you have a
problem, you can uninstall and revert to the older one. Which is what I
did.

Version 1.03 is only about 2.6 meg......and I do have it here.....but it
would not be wise to ask an unknown person to send any executable program to
you. 8-((

I did check the Lavasoft Forum and they are not offering it that I can see,
which is to be expected.

Hmm that's puzzling. There were actually 2 alternative versions of 1.04 -
the first (which had the freezing problems) being replaced a few hours later
by another 1.04 (which supposedly had the freezing problem fixed) - though I
have to say they both worked fine for me.

However, when I subsequently tried to get a definition update on 1.04(v2) it
failed. On checking, I found that 1.05 had just been released - installed it
and was then able to update my definitions successfully.

Since then it's worked fine.

It is an odd thing. Version 1.05 works for some people, doesn't for others.
I use WinME and Silj uses XP.....doesn't work for either of us......but we
seem to be in the minority. I have uninstalled and reinstalled that proggie
a few times now. Tried all the versions and 1.03 seems to suit my computer
best.

Cheers.....Heather

Heather:

I have had no problems with 1.03, 1.04 and now 1.05 on WinXP SP2.

With the exception of 1.03 which replaced the former ver. 6, I installed
over the previous version each time. Every 2 or 3 months, I give my
Registry a good cleaning and diskclean and defragged every week. Just out
of curiosity, might this be a computer maintenance problem? I am also
running NAV, Spybot S&D, Spyware Blaster, and ZoneAlarm? Might this be a
compatablity problem with other security software, where the "wrong"
combination may create the problem.

Just out of curiosity, what are the problems that you and Silj are having
with Ad-aware SE?
