Recommendations for payware or freeware trojan remover?
I'm presently using NOD32 for virus protection but don't
know if it is equal to the task of detecting/removing trojans.

Save your money. Both The Cleaner and Tauscan missed trojans on my machine.
Norton AntiVirus found and cleaned them.

In my experience, TrojanHunter and ewido have both found trojans that NAV
has missed. BTW, ewido is >free<. I saw a system just last week that had NAV
installed, resident, and current on which I downloaded and ran ewido. Ewido
found 13 active trojan variants. Spyware Search & Destroy and Ad-aware (both
>free< as well) found an additional 200+ -- each -- set of spyware/tracking
cookie problems on this machine. Yeah, save your money... NAV is all anyone
needs. LOL!
