Archived from groups: alt>comp>anti-virus, others (more info?)

I have just uninstalled PC-Cillin because I need to access my work server
via VPN and found that with PC-Cillin 2006 installed I could not connect.
With it un-installed I can connect.
I noticed there is an extra connection under My Network Places called
Internet Gateway. It is only there when PC-Cillin is installed. I have tried
the connect option but it won't do anything. Not sure if this is the problem
or not.
Prior to this I had a trial version of Norton installed and all was sweet.
I would prefer to install PC-Cillin but not id this is a problem.
I also had the problem of MS Windows Security kept coming up with the
balloon message that I need ed to check that the virus software had the
latest patterns etc etc. Found out from Trend Micro website that this is a
know issue. Perhaps the VPN problem is a known issue as well.
The PC has Windows XP Home SP2 installed and no other virus type software.
regards
PeterH

Just another thought.
I installed the virus software after the VPN had been set-up.
Should VPN settings be done after installing virus software???

Since PCC 2006 is a fresh release, have you thought about contacting
their support folks about this? They offer free support for paid
licensees of their product.
