I tried all those other AV programs you all suggested and I just
couldn't learn the interface. They all seemed to need a lot of
attention. One of them wouldn't allow a scan of a single file with a
right-click [if it did then it was not seen by me]

So, I am back to my old Norton, slow and sluggish as hell and hogging
all the memory it can find.

comments are welcome.
thanks.

Find an old NAV or NSW cd (NAV 2002 would work fine). Use it. It
will use very little in the way of resources, and is just as capable
as NAV 2005/2006 when it's fully updated.

I'm using NAV 2005 BUT I have NAV 2004.
Are you suggesting I use/install 2004 version?

thanks

I've never used NAV 2003 or higher. My impression is that
higher-than-acceptible resource utilization began with NAV 2003 and
got worse every year.

My gut feeling is that NAV 2004 won't be any better than 2005. If you
do try it, you'll have to scrub your system clean of all traces of any
version of NAV before you attempt to (re)install NAV 2004.

It's far easier to re-install NAV 2001 and 2002. Again, if you can
find 2002 (or even 2001) try it.
