We have a 1/03 came-with-McAfee and a 9/.04 came-with-Norton machine.
A while back I renewed McAfee without problem.

A few days ago I tried to renew Norton 2004. Asked for subscription
key...huh?...and said "call symantec cs if you don't have o ne". I
did.

Got a guy telling me to get 2006...of course more money...as better.
After fruitless attempts to just renew what we had we downloaded
2006.

Installation involved so many repeated
screens/requests/warnings/scans, not to mention a bright ugly Norton
button in my system tray that I can't get rid of, that I will never
use or recommend Norton. (Anyone help deleting the system tray icon?)

Brad

Look into something from TrendMicro or Kaspersky. Norton/Symantec
is overpriced kludge, and about as un-user-friendly as software could
possibly be.
