I used Norton for several years and got no virii, however, it is
expensive as you can get Avast (www.avast.com) for free and I have read
many good things about it.

I downloaded it two days ago and it was a snap.

I've used both (amongst others).
Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
To cut a long story short, I felt Norton is a bit bloated, however they've
got a fairly good support base and the Norton has the advantage of scanning
incoming e-mails. This may be a two edged sword but it's better to have the
ability then be without it.

McAfee is a bit lighter but it's hell if you're on a modem connection (I'm
talking McAfee On Line here).

So I guess, I'm going for Norton here.

I'm basing this on the fact that I'm still on Win98SE (yes I know).

Yes I know. But the guy was asking about those two.
Which reminds me, I'll need to cancel my subscription to McAfee. I don't see
much point with continuing with that product.
