Hi folks,
I'm currently running McAfee 7.0 on Windows XP and am trying to decide
whether to continue with McAfee or change to Norton. I've had problems
with McAfee, but have also read some scary reviews of Norton 2004 (i.e. a
real drag on system resources and response time).
Any ideas/opinions? Any other XP users running VirusScan 7.0 upgraded to
8.0, or switched to Norton?
Thanks,
Norm
P.S. Since the firewall is no longer bundled with VirusScan 8.0, I assume I
should also get firewall software, or is the built-in XP firewall
sufficient (non-sacrastic replies most appreciated). I have a single PC on
a high-speed cable connection, if this helps. >> Stay informed about: Norton 2004 vs. McAfee 8.0 - Opinions? |

I have to agree with the comments in the other two posts. I've tryed all of
them after my Norton Systemworks decided to fall on its belly. I settled on
EZArmor for CA. The version available thru Microsoft is free for the first
year. I get new definition updates every weekday so your never far behind
the latest. The product also includes a version of ZoneAlarm firewall which
you can elect to not install.

Look beyond the retail stuff - the best av isn't sold that way. Check
out a wider range of choices, from the free AVG at www.grisoft.com
through NOD32, eTrust, F-Secure, AVP, Norman AV etc.

Norton 2003 didnt work very well on my XP system. I dont know about Norton
2004???????????
I bought McAfee 8.0 last week and it has completely sorted out my system.
A great program.
No more viruses or infected files at all. Well worth the money
Bought alongside McAfee Firewall Plus 5.0. Also a must.
