Post subject: Newbie - Remove Mcaffee Security Centre
Archived from groups: alt>comp>anti-virus (more info?)

Hi all

We recently purchased a Dell laptop for corporate use.
It is supplied with McAfee Security Centre, Anti-Virus, Firewall etc
pre-installed and operating but time limited.
This time has just expired.
We have corporate licenses for McAfee anti-virus and Spyware blocker.

Questions

First thought was to remove free install stuff and load corporate version.
Couldn't find uninstall utility. Went to add-remove progs, the only McAfee
software visible was Mcafee uninstaller!
So, how do I remove this version and install corporate?..................
OR
Can I somehow re-direct the software to pick up updates from corporate
location?
OR
Can I install corporate version OVER pre-installed (don't favour this much
as pre-installed has more facilities than corporate)

Thanks in anticipation

Phil

Would suggest asking on their forum for assistance as mcafee are
notorious for leaving stuff behind if not cleaned correctly

eTrust have a utility that'll strip McAfee out completely, but it may not be publically
available
