I recently a did full c drive restore on one latop. I had 2 laptops
connected with a cross over cable working fine. Is there anything in
Kaspersky 7 that could be blocking the 2 computers seeing each other on the
workgroup? All network file sharing is checked but each computer only sees
itself on the workgroup. Oddly though if I right click My network places in
explorer and do a computer search...they see each other. I posted this on
1-1-08 on microsoft.public.windowsxp.general, but no luck yet....
I made no changes to Kaspersky on the other computer(unrestored one) so I'm
drawing a mental blank...

This is a known problem with KAV 7.0.0.125. There are a number of
threads on the above referenced forum dealing with this issue. Look
for posts that mention the "NDIS filter problem" or "network problem".
To verify that your problem is caused by KAV, try uninstalling it from
both machines and see if that fixes your problem.

Kaspersky just released KAV maintenance pack 1 (v7.0.0.321), which was
supposed to fix this problem. Unfortunately MP1 does not fix the
problem (at least for me). Maybe you will fare better.

good luck.

Scott, I updated one computer, reset to share on the c drive, renamed the
computer and it works again.

Good for you, the cause of the problem may be the buttplug that you've been
playing with earlier. Don't you think?
