McAfee and Norton anti-virus

hello all,

let us say i am writing an application to check whether my network
user's computers (including visitors) are running the latest anti-
virus software or not. how easy it is to automatically query McAfee
and Norton databases for this purpose? do they let us know this
information automatically through a query?
