Post subject: Kaspersky 5 - freezing on certain small files - please advise
Archived from groups: alt>comp>anti-virus (more info?)

having heard good things about Kaspersky, I thought I'd try it

downloaded the trial version from their website...

but it can't complete a system scan

it freezes on individual small files and won't go beyond them

these seem to be ordinary setup files that ran at OS installation
rather than files for active processes

so delete that file...
it freezes on the next one
and so on

3 so far:

c:\windows\inf\unregmp2.exe
c:\windows\system32\shmgrate.exe
c:\program files\outlook express\setup50.exe

scanning with the following scumware detectors finds NOTHING:

Ad-Aware
SpyBot S&D
CWShredder
HijackThis
Kill2me
