Today's update is 336,345 bytes. Program version 7.1.394, virus base
268.10.0/388.

AVG hasn't requested a reboot for months.

That's the easiest way forward on the rare occasions AVG goes wonky
in my experience. Browse to free.grisoft.com to get the latest
version.

I once ran into this problem. AVG was corrupt. I was forced to completely
uinstall AVG, then reboot, then download and install the latest version. All
was well.

If you're getting prompted to reboot each time, you've probably got the same
problem.

Today's update for Avast! is about 21,000 bytes. Wink
They come often and are almost always between 2 and 25 KB.
There was a program update about a month ago...

Ah yea, check also your update properties. Highlight "update", click
properties, and verify the radio button to "update immediately" is selected.
