About 4 months ago, I ran F prot and it ran fine.

I ran F-Prot yesterday.

I clicked Scan, and left the screen while it was running. It
started scannning my C root, so everything looked OK.

When I got back later, it had stopped with this screen:
---------------

I have a C partition and a D partition.
It seems F-Prot terminated inprocess and never completed the scan.

If OE means Outlook Express, I uninstalled the W98 default last
week. Winkill is a program for process view, not destructive.

IIRC, I never had anything with Causeway, may have been an
IE default in W98SE.

The only reference to Causeway on my hard drive was 2 IE bookmarks,
nothing else, I deleted them.

I just ran F-Prot, got the same message, same termination.

What is the meaning of this screen?

Mike

No, that's 0E (zero E) and is the hexadecimal code of the exception (the
error) that occurred.

Causeway is the name of the DOS extender used by F-Prot. An extender
basically allows (or makes it easier for) a DOS program to run in 32 bit
protected mode.

You should forward the error message to Frisk's customer support.

Wasn't this the error message that sometiimes popped up when running
F-Prot on a Win9x box? If I recall, to stop it you check-marked the
"Prevent MS-DOS based program from detecting Windows" under the
executable properties (e.g., right-click
F-Prot.EXE->properties->advanced)

Anyway, I remember that trick fixed *a* F-Prot crash; don't remember
for sure it was a CauseWay crash fix Wink

If in doubt, re-download the latest version of F-Prot and definitions?
Perhaps something got corrupted?
