Hi I am using AVG which I have just installed and I have an old copy of
xsoftspy

I detect and remove:
cws.googlems
vx2
haxdoor.bgn

I remove, rescan and there they are again

Suggestions?

With thanks
Stephen

Try again in safe mode. Ad-aware also has a vx2 plugin that is specific
for that particular piece of spyware. CWS Shredder should remove the
cool web search spyware if nothing else does. you may also wish to
consider using Spybot - Search & Destroy. If everything turns up
positive, you may wish to consider a fresh re-install of your operating
system.

Good Luck and Happy new Year!

Hi All fixed
I missed one step and that was disabling the system restore which seemed to
sort it correctly
Many thanks
